Course Overview:

The Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants includes:

  • Eight mandatory units
  • One synoptic assignment – externally set and internally assessed
  • One online multiple-choice exam (MCQ) – set and externally marked by City & Guilds
  • Grading: Level 2 Pass to Level 2 Distinction


Mandatory Units:

  • Unit 201: Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing
  • Unit 202: Bathing of dogs
  • Unit 203: Dry dogs and prepare a dog for styling
  • Unit 204: Carry out trimming of a dog’s coat to prepare for styling
  • Unit 205: Move and lift dogs
  • Unit 206: Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity in the dog grooming environment
  • Unit 207: Professional conduct
  • Unit 208: Introduction to anatomical features, breed characteristics, and dog behaviour


Course Delivery:

  • Duration: 14 teaching days over a 7-week term-time period
  • Schedule: Two practical teaching days per week (Thursday and Friday)
  • Work Experience: One day per week in the salon, scheduled to suit your availability
