City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming

Level 2 must be completed before Level 3 as stipulated by City & Guilds. Enrol in both the Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistant and the Level
3 Diploma in Dog Grooming together for a discounted price of £5,500. This
package includes a student grooming kit valued at £900 containing essential tools
including cordless Heiniger clippers to support your practical learning

This nationally recognised qualification is regulated by Ofqual and sits on the UK educational framework. It provides the essential skills and knowledge required to start working in a dog grooming salon or set up a small business offering basic grooming services.

Course Overview:

The Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming includes:

  • Four mandatory units
  • One synoptic assignment – externally set and internally marked
  • One theory exam – set and externally marked by City & Guilds
  • Grading: Level 3 Pass to Level 3 Distinction


Mandatory Units:

  • Unit 301: Health and safety, legislation, and code of practice for the dog grooming industry
  • Unit 302: Preparing, styling, and finishing a dog
  • Unit 303: Health checking and handling a dog in a dog grooming environment
  • Unit 304: Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment


Course Delivery:

  • Duration: 24 teaching days over a 12-week term-time only period
  • Schedule: Two practical teaching days per week (Thursday and Friday)
  • Work Experience: One day per week in the salon, scheduled to suit your availability
